Bates Southwest has been selected by Busy Body Total Fitness Solutions to introduce a new customer service concept nationwide.

The selection comes as the Dallas-based company, a leading retailer of physical fitness equipment in the U.S., attempts to reinvent its market positioning by getting involved with customers’ post-purchase exercise regimes.

“Our competitive situation is different than it was two years ago,” said Busy Body marketing manager LaRessa Cox. “While we were focusing on growth, all these competitors came in to each of our markets and duplicated what we were doing … There was no difference between us other than brands, so we decided to set the bar higher.”

Details of the marketing plan were not disclosed, but Bates account director Mike Hensgen said, “We’re not just going to sell equipment, that’s for sure.”

Hensgen cited the case of treadmills that become $2,500 clothes hangers a month after purchase.
