DALLAS Bates Southwest Advertising and Public Relations was officially folded into WPP Group’s Brouillard Communications on Jan. 1, the agency said.

The merger and name change are the result of WPP’s August acquisition of Cordiant Communications Group, Bates’ former parent. The Houston shop will become New York-based Brouillard’s fifth office and add $55 million to the agency’s existing $100 million in billings.

Judi Martin, who had been president of Bates Southwest, will assume the role of managing director and general manager.
