Bates Becomes Part of Brouillard

DALLAS Bates Southwest Advertising & Public Relations is being folded into WPP Group’s Brouillard Communications on January 1, the agency said.

The move comes in the wake of WPP’s August acquisition of Cordiant Communications Group, Bates’ former parent. Brouillard, which is based in New York, also has offices in Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco.

Judi Martin, who had been president of Bates Southwest, will assume the role of managing director and general manager of the Houston office. She will report to Brouillard president and CEO Bill Lyddan in New York.

The agency said it is maintaining all of its accounts, which includes three Popeye’s markets and Chevron Oronite, a fuel additives division.

The shop’s billings dropped 35 percent to $55 million in 2002, with estimated revenues down 25 percent to $6 million.
