Bannister takes WORK to Heart

A three-year tenure on anti-smoking efforts with Arnold primed Matt Bannister for a new position with the American Heart Association.

Bannister recently left the Boston agency after nearly a decade to join the association’s New England affiliate in Framingham, Mass., as senior vice president of communications. In this role, he heads all communications activities in the region, including advertising, public relations, Web, collateral and branding.

Barrister became intrigued by nonprofits after working on two highly successful anti-smoking campaigns for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration while he was vice president and management supervisor for Arnold’s brand promotions group. Working for cause-based promotions made him realize he wanted to use his communication skills to make a difference in people’s lives, he said.
