Avenue A/Razorfish Adds E-Mail Specialist

NEW YORK Avenue A/Razorfish said David Baker has joined the agency to lead its e-mail practice.

Baker, 39, will serve as vice president of e-mail solutions at the aQuantive agency, in charge of e-mail marketing campaigns Avenue A/Razorfish handles for clients. He will be based in San Francisco.

“E-mail is a key area in our menu of digital marketing solutions,” Lee Sherman, vice president of global solutions for the agency, said in a statement. “With David’s expertise and leadership, we are well-positioned to anticipate and provide our clients’ e-mail marketing needs on a global scale.”

Avenue A/Razorfish’s gain is Agency.com’s loss. Baker served as vice president of e-mail and analytical business at the Omnicom Group Web shop. Prior to joining Agency.com in August 2004, Baker built the e-mail practice at Targetbase, the Omnicom direct marketing shop.

About $885 million was spent on e-mail marketing in 2005, according to JupiterResearch. It forecasts spending will increase to $1.1 billion in 2010.
