Arnold’s N.Y. President Maroun Departs

BOSTON Mary Maroun, president of Arnold’s office in New York, is stepping down, according to the Havas-owned shop, which is based in Boston.

It is unlikely that Maroun, who held the post for slightly more than a year, will be replaced, an agency representative said. Arnold’s national CEO and past New York president Fran Kelly, as well as other senior agency staffers, like New York managing partner and CCO John Staffen, will take on most of Maroun’s duties.

The New York office of Arnold works for GlaxoSmithKline, Lee Jeans and McDonald’s, among others, though the unit has won little significant new business in recent months. The office employs about 150 people, representing roughly 20 percent of Arnold’s national workforce. Staffing in New York was about the same when Maroun arrived in May 2006.

The Arnold rep called her decision a “mutual parting of ways,” but offered no elaboration. Maroun could not immediately be reached for comment.

She previously served at WPP’s Young & Rubicam as a managing partner. Her decision to join Arnold reunited her with Staffen, with whom she had worked in the 1990s at Omnicom’s TBWA\Chiat\Day on high-profile efforts for Nynex Yellow Pages.
