Arnold, Mullen Win At London Awards Show

Arnold Communications and Mullen will be lauded today at the 13th annual London International Advertising Awards.
Boston-based Arnold was a double winner in the print competition for Volkswagen of America, while Mullen in Wenham, Mass., won in the direct mail/trade category for the Sci-Fi Channel.
Organizers of the show, held this year at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, said they received 16,638 entries from creative teams in 81 countries.
A total of 157 prizes will be given out, with grand prizes awarded in five broad categories: television and cinema, radio, interactive, packaging and direct response. Only one winner is honored in each category; there are no gold, silver or bronze distinctions.
A print ad for the New Beetle titled “Backward and Forward” won the top prize in the automotive category. The ad was one of 280 entries, of which 33 qualified as finalists. Arnold also won for VW in the automotive brochure category from a field of 45 entries.
In the direct mail/trade category won by Mullen, there were 42 finalists selected from 167 entries.
The grand prize in the television category was awarded to WongDoody in Seattle for a campaign for the NBA’s Seattle Supersonics.
The winning entries from all five categories will be posted on a Web site redesigned by London-based Hyperinteractive (www.liaawards.
com). For the first time, visitors to the site may listen to radio ads, view print and packaging designs and interact with new media winners.
