BOSTON–Arnold on Wednesday cut approximately 3-4% of its nationwide staff, or about 30-40 employees, sources said. Most of the cuts came from the media department in the agency’s Boston headquarters.

Arnold, which employs about 1,100 people, in Boston, McLean, Va., St. Louis, San Francisco and elsewhere, has trimmed staff about 5% in total in 2000, including a cut of five or fewer members of its Boston-based EMC team a few weeks ago, sources said.

An Arnold representative declined comment.
