Arnold Exec Joins First Marblehead

BOSTON First Marblehead has hired agency veteran Greg Johnson as evp, chief marketing officer. He is tasked with directing an in-house marketing unit that develops, implements and analyzes direct response programs.

“We are impressed by Greg’s track record of leading and motivating cross-functional teams to design and execute successful integrated marketing campaigns that drive revenue and grow market share,” said company CEO Jack Kopnisky. “Greg is a visionary marketer with ability to blend creative strategy with business strategy.”

Johnson most recently served for several years at Havas-owned ad agency Arnold as an evp, overseeing integrated marketing activities at the agency’s offices in Boston, New York and McLean, Va., serving clients such as ESPN, Fidelity Investments, Royal Caribbean and Vonage. An Arnold representative said the shop is now seeking his replacement.

Prior to Arnold, Johnson was the founder and principal of management consulting firm Epoch Strategy and a principal at DiaLogos. He also spent several years in leadership positions at Digitas.

Boston-based First Marblehead said Larry Lutz, who had been CMO, has moved into the newly created position of evp, strategic alliances.

First Marblehead helps design and implement student loan programs for businesses and educational institutions nationwide.
