Apple Unscathed by Map Flap

September's biggest brand improvers

Apple's highly publicized maps blunder didn't seem to hurt its image with consumers too much. The company was one of the most-improved brands last month, as measured by YouGov’s BrandIndex, its slick new iPhone 5 rollout trumping its map app trouble. Other big improvers came from the tech space including Verizon Wireless, which announced release of its Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean;" Kindle, whose new Fire HD 2 received positive reviews; and Twitter, which continues to attract chattering celebs and pundits. The brand research service asks consumers about their perception of 1,100 brands and assigns a Buzz score ranging from 100 to -100.
