Apparently, the Meaty Cheesy Boys of Jack in the Box commercial fame have aspirations beyond singing about cheeseburgers.
Four members of the spoof boy band–which sings of its devotion to Jack’s Ultimate Cheeseburger in TV and radio spots from the Kowloon Wholesale Seafood Co., Santa Monica, Calif.–have taped an episode of the UPN sitcom Grown Ups that is to air this spring.
The foursome won’t be testing their artistic limits, however. They play singing dancers hoping to join yet another fictional boy band: the Macho Five.
No word on whether there will be any placement of Jack in the Box products in the episode, but Kowloon managing director Patrick Adams said the agency might buy time.
“UPN can attract a lot of young guys, and if that’s the case we will be there,” he said.
The Meaty Cheesy Boys were unveiled last fall and have been a hit in their own right. They appeared on the Billboard Music Awards and have their own Web site, which has garnered over 100,000 hits.
