NEW YORK Denise Johnston will join The Gap as president of Gap Adult, overseeing all aspects of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, according to the company.

Johnston joins the San Francisco-based company from Liz Claiborne, where she was president and CMO for the better and moderates division. A 25-year veteran of the apparel business, Johnston previously served as president of the Cricket Lane and Melrose divisions of Koret of California, and has held management positions at Carole Little, Bullocks, Neiman Marcus and Dayton-Hudson.
