NEW YORK America Online has hired Richard Taylor, formerly vice president of U.S. marketing at Burger King, as senior vice president of brand promotion.

In the newly created post, Taylor will develop brand promotions for the Dulles, Va.-based AOL Time Warner Internet unit and will lead teams responsible for executing those promotions. For instance, he will spearhead national, seasonal and special event initiatives to support AOL’s broadband service, according to a company representative. He will report to evp of brand marketing Len Short, who joined AOL in January.
