AOL Launches Sports Radio Show

NEW YORK Following last year’s foray into live, hosted programming with Radio KOL—a four-hour daily show aimed kids—America Online is debuting another radio show that looks to reach sports fans.

The Dulles, Va.-based Time Warner unit today introduced a live daily sports show hosted by former NFL kicker Jess Atkinson. Called The Show, the one-hour program will feature regular segments on topical issues and guests, such as sports commentator Bob Costas, baseball veteran Tommy Lasorda and NASCAR driver Rusty Wallace.

AOL members can ask questions during the show via instant messages, e-mail or phone. The Show, available from 12-1 p.m. EST, can also be replayed.

Last fall, AOL launched Radio KOL, a kids program hosted by U.K. radio and TV personality Rick Adams [IQ Daily Briefing, Sept. 11, 2003]. AOL reports that 1 million listeners tune in to Radio KOL each week.
