American Century to TBWA\Chiat\Day

NEW YORK Omnicom Group’s TBWA\Chiat\Day said it has landed American Century’s advertising account. Estimated billings are $20 million.

The agency here bested WPP Group’s Grey and independent Wieden + Kennedy, both also in New York, after final pitches earlier this month.

The incumbent, independent RPA in Santa Monica, Calif., did not defend. No consultant was used to guide the review.

“TBWA showed us that they understood our business and our customer, and that their integrated approach to this segment was fresh and different,” said Catherine Bernard, client vp of corporate advertising, in a statement.

“They have very high ambitions for the brand and the business; we hope to play a vital role in helping them achieve their goals,” said Brett Gosper, president of TBWA New York Group.

American Century also awarded its interactive duties to Tequila\New York, TBWA’s marketing services network, and media responsibilities to sibling OMD New York.

Founded in 1958, American Century manages upwards of $95 billion in assets. In January, the company was named to Fortune magazine’s list of 100 best employers.
