American Airlines announced today it plans to resume flights with the Boeing 737 Max in January.

In a statement today, the company said it expects the beleaguered airplane, responsible for two crashes within the past year, to be back in its scheduled rotation by Jan. 16.

“American Airlines anticipates that the impending software updates to the Boeing 737 MAX will lead to recertification of the aircraft later this year and resumption of commercial service in January 2020,” the company said in the statement.
