Albrecht Brings Bates Accounts to Freed

DALLAS Freed Advertising has appointed Michael Albrecht senior vice president and director of business development, the shop said.

Albrecht will be responsible for directing client accounts and new business development in his newly created position at the Houston agency.

He joins the shop from the former Bates Southwest, where he held a similar position. Albrecht was let go from the Houston firm as a result of the August 2003 merger between New York-based Brouillard and Bates parent Cordiant Communications Group.

“As part of my exit, I was allowed to take several of my clients with me,” Albrecht said. “I’ve known [Freed president] Gerald Freed for many years and we actually talked about merging our two companies years ago, so this is a real, natural fit for me.”

The clients Albrecht has brought over include the 12th Man Foundation, Gulf Coast Window Covering and American Rice.

Judi Martin, president of Brouillard’s Houston office, has taken over Albrecht’s responsibilities.

Prior to joining Bates, Albrecht was the principal of Houston’s The Albrecht Agency for 15 years.
