As the Federal Communications Commission prepares to release a report on Thursday criticizing marketers for not using or paying minority media enough, three ad associations are preparing to hold a conference with the Rev. Al Sharpton to discuss options for improvement.
The Jan. 18 summit will include the American Advertising Federation, the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the Association of National Advertisers and the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators, sources said. It will focus on developing an effective conciousness-raising strategy to target agencies which may undervalue minority media, sources said.
Advertisers are also questioning possible bias by the authors of the FCC report.
