Acquires Exile On Seventh

NEW YORK Omnicom Group’s said on Tuesday that it has acquired certain assets of the San Francisco-based online ad agency Exile on Seventh, an i-shop that works for eBay, 21st Century Insurance and Wells Fargo. Terms were not disclosed.

Exile on Seventh, which has 20 employees, will be absorbed into’s 60-person San Francisco office. The “Exile” name will no longer be used. In addition, the New York, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco offices of’s existing itraffic division will transition to the brand by year’s end, forming a specialized practice dedicated to online marketing called the “Advertising Group,” which will include Exile on Seventh.

Alan Burgis, president of Exile on Seventh, will take on the role of senior vice president and report to president and COO Don Scales. “Alan and his team are a perfect match for, both culturally and professionally,” said Scales in a statement.

Acquisitions in e-marketing space have been on the rise. Yesterday, aQuantive said it signed an agreement to acquire independent interactive agency SBI.Razorfish for $160 million. That transaction is expected to close in late July. Last week, America Online bought for $435 million.
