Schablow/Beaumont Marketing Communications in Birmingham was retained by the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders to manage advertising, public relations and corporate sponsorship for a new event, the Birmingham Home Products Expo ’97.

CBS&R, an agency located in Montgomery, walked away with an award in the Lamar Advertising Public Service Creative Contest for an outdoor billboard it created for the Battered Women’s Program of Baton Rouge, La. The agency donated its advertising services to the pro bono campaign.


Communicomp, a Plantation-based direct-marketing agency, has been acquired by Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt. Communicomp president and chief operating officer Carol Nelson will continue to supervise the Florida agency’s day-to-day operations.

Peak Barr Petralia Biety in Tampa has added the following accounts to its roster: Tropical Sportswear International, also based in Tampa, and Nextel Communications in Maitland.

First Marketing Group in Orlando was named agency of record for Commons Medical, a full-service organization that specializes in developing medical facilities from design conception through property management.

The Harvey Communication Measurement Award was presented to R.J. Comer Communications in Jacksonville for the 1996 Scapa Group North America ‘Profitability in Fine Paper Manufacturing’ advertisement. The award is given to the top 10 ads appearing in Pulp & Paper Magazine.

Abbaticchio & Limner Communications in Miami Beach was named to provide public relations support for The Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort. The shop will handle media relations and select special events and promotions.


Clarion Marketing and Communications in Atlanta was recently honored for its creative work on CNN Quarterly. The agency won best of show honors from the Print Industry Association of Atlanta and three Addys from the Atlanta Advertising Club.

Welch Nehlen & Groome, headquartered in Garden City, N.Y., has opened an office in Atlanta. The advertising agency will be seeking new business from high-tech software and hardware companies located in the Southeast.

Chatham Holdings Corp. was recently awarded a bronze medal in the printed material/sales package category at the Summit Creative Awards. The work was created by Atlanta advertising agency Carroll/White Advertising.

Atlanta-based Wilkins Outdoor Network has established an office in New Rochelle, N.Y. The Northeast facility will be headed by Robert Figa.

Crumbley & Alba in Atlanta has added three accounts to its client list: Behavioral Health Partners, Support Technologies and Ashford International.

The Georgia Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America recently presented Rena Kilgannon, a principal of KilgannonMcReynolds in Atlanta, with an award in recognition of her work with the charitable organization.

Atlanta’s Golin/Harris Communications has added Powerbelt Fitness Systems as a client. The agency will aid in the launch of the client’s first product, the Powerbelt Exercise System.

Broadus & Associates in Atlanta has acquired two new accounts: MC Strategies and The Winston high-rise condominium, both of Atlanta.

The Headline Group in Atlanta has signed the following new business additions: Coco Pazza Atlanta, Head Sports Inc., Chamberlin Edmonds & Associates, W.L. Handler & Associates and musician Jan Smith. 1997 represents the agency’s fifteenth year in operation.


The Burris Agency in High Point received four citations of excellence in the recent regional American Advertising Awards sponsored by the Third District of the American Advertising Federation. The work was produced for Club Car, a manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles. Club Car has been a Burris Agency client since 1990.


Advantage International in McLean was appointed by the England & Wales Cricket Board to handle global sponsorship sales for the 1999 Cricket World Cup. The sporting event will be staged in the United Kingdom.

Cadmus/O’Keefe Marketing in Richmond was hired to create a Web site for Continental Cable, a division of U S West. Separately, the agency won an Andy Award from the Advertising Club of New York. Cadmus/O’Keefe won for an ad created for Interbake Foods.

Carter Ryley Thomas Public Relations in Richmond has acquired two new accounts: Meyer Corp. of San Francisco and the Virginia Retirement System, also headquartered in Richmond.


The Buntin Group in Nashville recently won seven Telly Awards (six silver and one bronze). Clients represented in the award-winning work included Duck Head Apparel, Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Nicklaus Golf Equipment, Block Drug Co. and Chattem. The Telly Awards recognize achievement in non-network and cable television advertising.


Capitoline Public Affairs and Manning, Selvage & Lee have restructured their partnership in Washington, D.C. The venture, to be called Capitoline/MS&L G.P., will continue to provide public affairs and government relations services in the nation’s capital.
