Foote, Cone & Belding New York won The Coalition for the Homeless’ First Step Corporate Recognition Award in the Corporate Honoree category. The agency received the award at the coalition’s Eighth Annual Women Mean Business Luncheon, held on March 14 in New York. FCB was recognized for its support of the First Step job-training program, which helps homeless and low-income women achieve economic independence. The shop was also named “Adver tiser of the Year” by Risk & Insurance for a print campaign it created for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. FCB New York is the flagship office of the Interpublic Group’s FCB Worldwide network.

Omnicom Group launched Hyphen, a healthcare-marketing agency founded by Marc Weiner, Peter Niemi and Brett Schnittlich. Weiner is president and CEO, Niemi is chief information officer and managing partner, and Schnittlich is chief technology officer and managing partner. All three had previously been at Torre Lazur-McCann Healthcare WorldWide.

GreenPoint Bank named Manhattan Marketing Ensemble its advertising agency, following a review. The client, a subsidiary of New York-based GreenPoint Financial Corp., is a New York state chartered savings bank with 74 branches. The bank’s $2.5 million-plus ad budget will be spent on broadcast and newspaper ads. Man hattan Marketing Ensemble is based in New York.

Nextel Communications placed a sign on 2 Times Square in New York, a building whose ad space is managed by New York-based Sherwood Outdoor. The two-sided sign went up late last month and faces both Times Square and north on Broadway. It will be up through the end of the year, with options for extensions.

Earthquake Media was retained by online-gaming company BingoHall Group in San José, Costa Rica, to handle creative and media planning and buying duties for its new Internet gaming site, Bingo Hall.com. The site launched late last month. Billings are estimated at $3 million. The New York-based agency will also develop strategic relationships between BingoHall and various Web sites.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution hired Bigfoot Interactive to create, track and analyze a customized e-mail-communications program. The New York-based company, which provides e-mail-communications technology and services, implemented an e-mail-communications program for the newspaper’s recently launched online career center. The program notifies job seekers of positions that match criteria they have specified in their individual profiles. Bigfoot Interactive also helped integrate the client’s job-candidate, employer and e-mail databases.

New York-based R.C. Auletta and Co. was hired by law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel to create an ongoing public relations campaign. The client is based in New York. The agency was also tapped by Casio to promote the launch of its new Baby-G Dolphin watches for young women. Casio is based in Dover, N.J.

HWH PR/New Media recently launched a branding initiative for DuPont Displays, which is based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. The project is meant to position the DuPont subsidiary, which designs and manufactures holographics, display enhancements and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, within the business-to-business and consumer display markets. The New York-based public relations agency will specifically focus on DuPont Displays’ OLED displays. It hired New York-based siegelgale to consult on renaming options for the client, as well as to create a logo for it.

NEW JERSEY

DMI hired Turchette Advertising to manage its marketing efforts, including creative and production duties for print ads and collateral materials. The Fairfield-based advertising and marketing agency will also handle the Wharton-based client’s public relations. DMI provides contract manufacturing, filling and packaging for the cosmetics and nutritional industries.

Brand-growth consultancy S3 received six Astra awards from the New Jersey Communications, Advertising and Marketing Association at a ceremony held on March 15 in Jamesburg. The Boonton-based company won gold awards in the Business-to-Business Direct Marketing, Special Event Marketing and Excellence in Writing categories. It was recognized with silver awards in the Consumer Direct Marketing, Poster Campaign and Interactive categories.

Photosound Communications, a design and medical-communications company, won a gold award in the Health and Pharmaceutical category at the Incentive Travel & Meetings Association Awards ceremony, held recently in London. Pho to sound, which has offices in Princeton and Stansted, England, received the award for a conference it produced for Wyeth’s Neuroscience Group.

Interpublic Group’s Gillespie won the Best of Show award for a self-promotional corporate brochure at the New Jersey Communications, Advertising and Marketing Association’s Astra Awards dinner, held on March 15 in Jamesburg. The Princeton-based marketing agency also won 12 gold awards and one silver at the event. The gold awards recognized Gillespie’s work for DuPont InkJet; Munich-American Risk Partners; Justballs; Arch Wireless; MIIX Group; Port Authority of NY & NJ; Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey; Valley National Bank; and American Reinsurance. The shop also won gold awards for its own stationery package and the corporate brochure that garnered Best of Show. It received a silver award for work it created for Kennedy Health System.

Princeton Communications Group was rec ognized with 17 awards at the New Jersey Communications, Advertising and Marketing Association’s Astra Awards. The Princeton-based marketing and communications company received gold awards in the following categories: Audiovisual; Stationery Package; Public Service—Single Medium; Public Relations—Public Programs; and Logo Design. PCG also won 12 silver awards at the event.

PENNSYLVANIA

Praxis Communications was named EZ-Cat er’s public relations agency. The Huntingdon Valley-based marketing-communications shop is respon sible for building brand awareness for the client’s line of portable, collapsible catering carts. Praxis will handle media relations in the commercial food-service and noncommercial markets for Glendale, Calif.-based EZ-Cater. The agency will also provide ongoing strategic marketing counsel and trade show support.
