TEXAS BSMG Worldwide, Dallas, has been named public relations counsel for StarCore, an Atlanta-based joint design center of Lucent Technologies and Motorola that develops digital signal processor technolgies. The appointment followed a competitive review. Tocquigny Advertising & Design, Austin, has acquired the accounts of Tantau Software and Just4Biz, two companies specializing in Internet applications. Digital Dimension Studios, Dallas, has partnered with Audio Dallas in Garland to offer advanced recording and post-production capabilities. The Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the American Marketing Association has elected Trista Collier of Milltronics Inc., Arlington, president for the 1999-2000 term. Kyle Holmes of the Dallas marketing communications agency M/C/C will serve as president-elect. The group has also announced recipients of its Pinnacle Awards. Winners include Lee Marketing for consumer services, La Madeleine for consumer products, The Coulter Group and the American Red Cross (tie) for nonprofit, and Michael Flora & Associates for business-to-business. Texas Video & Post, Houston, recently produced the Golf On Command With Butch Harmon television program for client On Command. The one-hour show is the first of a four-part series to be distributed into hotel rooms nationally. Hothaus Design & Creative, Dallas, has completed a graphic design package to promote WFAA-TV, Channel 8's news operation. Levenson & Hill, Dallas, has launched a promotional campaign for BankDirect which offers $50 to new checking customers. In addition, the agency's television work for Furrs/Bishops won best campaign in the Excellence in Advertising and Radio Awards sponsored by the Multi-Unit Foodservice Operators Conference. Gleason/Calise Associates, Dallas, picked up five statuettes during the 20th annual Telly Awards. Winning TV spots included an ongoing campaign for Don Pablo's, a Mexican food chain, and a first-ever commercial for Doskocil's pet products. Allyn & Company, Dallas, has created new imaging and a logo for the Suicide and Crisis Center in Dallas. Patrick Henry Creative Promotions, Houston, has created a "Spice up your weekend" promotion for Interstate Hotels featuring a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar. The Texas Festivals & Events Association has designated the Symphony League of Fort Worth's Oktoberfest promotion the best overall campaign. Payne Advertising & Design in Fort Worth was responsible for the campaign. ARKANSAS Stone & Ward, Little Rock, recently unveiled its new logo design for Brannon's Market, a retail food store. LOUISIANA Deveney Communications, New Orleans, recently received the Jake Wittmer Award for a handbook for the No/AIDS Task Force, co-sponsored by Elton John and the mayor of New Orleans. The handbook also garnered two Gold Quills in the special publication and writing categories. New Orleans-based Keating Magee Advertising & Public Relations won 11 Public Relations Society of America awards. The laurels included three best of category prizes, five awards of excellence and three citations of merit. NEW MEXICO Rick Johnson & Company, Albuquerque, won the Award of Excellence in the utility category of the Communicator Awards audio competition for its client, the Public Service Company of New Mexico. OKLAHOMA Striegel & Associates in Broken Arrow won two grand awards from the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association for the "Upgrade your mind" TV and radio campaign it produced for Northeastern State University. An honorable mention was received for the campaign's billboard. Ackerman McQueen in Oklahoma City, which handles marketing communications for Pizza Hut co-ops in three states, recently received the best overall co-op media management award and the best local promotion honor from the client. The agency also received an honorable mention for best sports promotion.
