CONNECTICUT MC5 Advertising & Production in West Hartford has completed a print campaign for Waterbury-based Fairbanks Mortgage. The statewide effort seeks to encourage consumers to take advantage of the client's low interest rates. One headline reads, "Catch us with our rates down." Mintz & Hoke in Avon has formed Advantage Field & Focus, a focus group facility that provides recruitment and field research services. Kotchen Group in West Hartford has been selected for public relations chores by Home Depot in Atlanta. The agency has also been tapped by Diversified Brands in Solon, Ohio, a unit of Sherwin-Williams, to handle public relations for two of its products: Krylon Fabulous Finishes and Krylon Metallic Leafing Pens. MASSACHUSETTS CC and D Communications in Boston has created a television and radio campaign for the Children's Trust Fund, a Boston-based social services organization that provides outreach programs throughout Massachusetts aimed at helping teenage parents and preventing child abuse. Some of the media time is being donated by local television and radio stations. Collateral materials from CC and D are forthcoming. The organization's marketing budget is about $750,000 a year. The agency, which also provides community relations for the client, was awarded the business last year. Directech in Lexington has picked up direct marketing chores from Open Market, an Internet commerce company in Burlington. The assignment will include using direct mail to invite retail executives to participate in an upcoming telephone seminar. The "teleforum" will be followed by a lead generation mail program. Directech also has been tapped by Pilot Software in Cambridge. The agency and its interactive business unit, eMerge Marketing, will create direct mail programs and new media initiatives to attract retail and information technology executives to a series of seminars to be held on the Web. The Horn Group in Braintree has been selected for public relations chores by Cambridge Technology Partners in Cambridge, a systems integration firm. Barrett Communications in Cambridge has completed a pair of projects for Summa Four in Manchester, N.H. The agency has developed a software packaging system that can be tailored for individual product needs and fashioned a worldwide customer service and support brochure. Barrett has also designed a new logo and press materials for InfoLibria in Waltham. Seidler Bernstein in Cambridge has been chosen to write an informational booklet for Bethke Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital in Concord. Custom Communications in Boston has developed Harvard Pilgrim Health Care's Senior Talk, a magazine for senior citizens. Polese Clancy in Boston has been tapped by SystemSoft in Natick to create the company's annual report. Shapiro Music in Boston has completed work on a variety of projects, including a series of five TV spots for Popeye's Chicken, with Hill, Holliday/Altschiller in New York; a broadcast effort for Claussen Pickles, with J. Walter Thompson in Chicago; a campaign for Comcast Cable and promotions for KTLA radio, both with Smash Advertising in Boston; TV commercials for Brown & Co. and the Boston Museum of Science's Mt. Everest/Omni Theatre, both with Gearon Hoffman in Boston; and a TV spot for ASC Games' Sanitarium CD-ROM, with Core Group in Boston. Steve Dubin and Jim Farrell have left Dickinson Direct in Braintree and formed separate but complimentary public relations agencies. Dubin helms PR Works and Farrell heads PR First, both in Norwell. The startups share several clients, including Dickinson and National Check Protection. Their former agency, Dubin & Farrell Advertising & Public Relations in Weymouth, was absorbed into Dickinson several years ago and had operated as its public relations arm. NEW HAMPSHIRE Filias Advertising in Portsmouth has been selected by the Healthcare Management Council in Newton, Mass., for a nationwide identity campaign. Eastlantic Advertising in Manchester has been chosen by Mainstream Electronic Information Services in Merrimack for various ad assignments. Bedford Granite Group in Bedford has added the following clients to its roster: Wavelink Communications in Manchester, a dealer of Nextel wireless communications; EPE Corp. in Manchester, an electronic manufacturing concern; and Euro-Sports MotorCar in Merrimack, which sells and services high-end used cars. RHODE ISLAND America House in Newport has been selected to handle advertising for Gencorp Insurance Group of East Greenwich. VERMONT Brick House Creative in Burlington has been tapped by Rossingnol Ski Co. to create graphics for the client's international lines of skis and snowboards for the 1999-2000 season. Brick House has developed North American design projects for Rossingnol for the past few years and worked with Olympic gold medal-winner Picabo Street to create her signature line of skis.
