Lerner, president, along with Eileen Marin, vice president, have more than 45 combined years in the business community designing marketing research and promotional programs for a variety of industries.Power & Light Studios, a digital video studio in Austin, has won the Year 2000 Austin Advertising Federation's "Big Wig" award for the best film and video production company.Patrick Henry Creative Promotions in Houston has created a summer celebration program for Interstate Hotels, headquartered in Pittsburgh, to increase traffic and incremental sales during the summer months. As guests check in, they receive a brightly colored insert of a beach umbrella popping out of the top of the room key holder. The front of the insert features a vacation scene and offers guests half-priced appetizers. The reverse side features Caribbean-themed drinks under the heading of "flavors of the tropics." The campaign lasts three months and will run nationwide. The Halifax Group in Atlanta has also retained Patrick Henry Creative Promotions to promote its gourmet steak sauces, salad dressings, salsas and seafood cocktail sauces.Publicis Dallas recently celebrated the opening of its new offices in North Dallas with a world party. Publicis offices throughout the world were invited to design a poster for the event. The prize was a pair of custom-made cowboy boots going to the creators of the best poster. More than 200 guests voted on the 21 entries and the winner was Publicis Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Its poster depicted a three-dimensional flying carpet and the tagline: "We always arrive in style. Don't bother to reserve parking spaces for us at the move party. We'll find somewhere on the roof."Graphic Concepts Group in Fort Worth is continuing its partnership with Fort Worth Opera with the production of the 2000-2001 season brochure, "Join The Stampede." The campaign design for the new season merges a Viking helmet with Texas Longhorns, an image that will become the new logo for the opera company.The Balcom Agency in Fort Worth received a gold award in the newspaper advertising/single category of the 17th annual Healthcare Advertising Review awards. The ad: "It's a whole new century. But our commitment to you remains the same." It was developed for Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital. Billings for this account were undisclosed.The Quest Business Agency, a Houston-based branding specialist, has won a contract with IBM Global Procurement, in Southbury, Conn. "The demonstrated capabilities of our brand-naming process should be a good match for IBM's global requirements," said Alan Vera, president/CEO of Quest.Payne Advertising has been chosen by Ben Taylor Optical, Fort Worth, for its new print and outdoor campaign that will break this summer. The Fort Worth agency will also handle media planning and placement.Stuart Bacon Advertising and Public Relations Relations, Fort Worth, has been hired by the Camp Fire Boys and Girls—First Texas Council to create a communications program for the organization's leadership training initiative. The campaign is due to be launched in October.The Hart Agency, Dallas, recently won a Bronze Quill award of excellence from the Dallas Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators in the human interest and features writing category for an article entitled "Baby Boomer Makeovers for the New Millennium." It was written for L'Image Salons and Spa. The agency also won a Bronze Quill award of merit in the external campaign/media relations category for work done on J.C. Penney's "Size Does Matter" campaign. The latter effort also earned the agency a Texas Public Relations Association Silver Spur and Best of Texas Bronze Award 2000 in the writing category. Work for Internet travel specialist Sabre by Vollmer earned the Houston-headquartered marketing and public relations company a Gold Quill award for excellence in the media relations category from the International Association of Business Communicators. Vollmer also won the national Creativity in Public Relations Award for its trade media work with Sabre. The Sabre account team included senior vice president Denisha Stevens, Dallas-based vice president Teri Daley and senior account executive Karen Springs.Byrne Johnson recently opened an office in New York and added two new clients to its roster.
