GSD&M in Austin recently finished shooting a 30-second television commercial for Wal-Mart promoting Kathie Lee Gifford’s clothing line. The spot is slated to break in September.

The Texas Department of Health, Austin, has placed its first anti-tobacco billboard ad, warning minors in Austin that tobacco possession may lead to driver’s license suspensions. The billboard is the first such placement in a campaign that has previously featured television and radio, according to department representative Ed Rivera. Sherry Matthews Advertising & Public Relations, also Austin, handles.
DBC Active Spine Care, Fort Worth, selected Phillips, Team & Myers as its agency of record. The Fort Worth shop’s assignments include developing television spots and a public relations effort.

Tom’s Easy Way, Dallas, recently edited a 30-second Nokia television spot for The Richards Group, Dallas. The commercial promotes Nokia’s sponsorship of the George Strait Country Music Festival.
Hadeler Sullivan & Law, Dallas, won first place in the nonprofit and service categories at the Pinnacle Awards sponsored by the Dallas chapter of the American Marketing Association. The nonprofit award was for Children’s Medical Center of Dallas; the service award for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
Access, Fort Worth, was hired by the Hysterica Dance Company, Los Angeles. The shop’s assignments will include assisting with a fundraising campaign.
Wheeler Advertising, Arlington, recently created radio ads and point-of-purchase materials for the Lewisville Nautical Mile, a group of four ship dealers in that city: Jerry Whittle Boats, Phil Dill Boats, Travis Boating Center and Ski Dallas.

Pennebaker will work on branding strategy and corporate identity for Pinky Baby and marketing strategy and collateral materials for Channel.
