NEW YORKSTC Associates has taken on two Web-site design projects: the first branded site for Wild Turkey Bourbon and a site for tel*, a telecommunications colocation facility provider. The Wild Turkey site will incorporate branded product information, an e-commerce platform for merchandise sales, food and drink recipes, a consumer-feedback loop and an interactive virtual distillery tour. The site will be linked to that of Groupe Pernod Ricard, which owns the brand's producer and marketer, Austin, Nichols & Co. STC currently oversees all aspects of tel*'s marketing-communications function, including branding, image management, public relations, sales collateral materials and interactive communications.KSK Films, a production company in New York, was tapped by McCann-Erickson to create the graphic- and title-design work for the most recent Lysol "Facts of Life" campaign airing in the French Canadian and Spanish markets. There currently are four commercials on air, and KSK Films will soon begin work on the next phase of the campaign. The project was headed by the company's lead designer, Dyske Suematsu; in-house designers Alan Bibby and Warner Barnes were involved in the project's broadcast design.Sekani, a global media-solutions company, has launched the first stage of its online media-licensing marketplace at www.- sekani.com, in association with Seattle-based Corbis Corp., a provider of digital still images. The resource will offer creative professionals at advertising agencies, media companies and publishers, among others, a platform for searching, previewing and purchasing both licensed and royalty-free moving images. The site will be linked to the Corbis Web site for instant access to online still photography and fine-arts collections. The site will eventually provide content owners with a distribution and licensing platform for their media archives. Sekani, which has offices in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Germany, provides rights, clearance and licensing services, as well as an archive of moving images.Kabel New Media AG, a European e-business enabler, has entered into a joint venture with a team of senior U.S. Internet executives and Orbitex Financial Services Group in New York to form a cross-disciplined digital-services firm that would constitute its North American business sector. Called Kabel US, the firm is codirected by chief executive officer Eric Weaver, a former Young & Rubicam senior vice president and managing director, and chief development officer Andreas Panayi, a former president and CEO of Brand Dialogue. The company, which has offices in New York, Washington, D.C., and Orange County, Calif., has clients that include Showtime Networks, Vatterott College, WOW.TV and ZapHealth, and has completed projects for Swiss Re and USA Networks.Strategics Advertising teamed with Furgiuele & Co. to present an educational forum about magazine branding at an October conference sponsored by Kable News Fulfillment in Huron, Ohio. Strategics, a Westbury-based ad agency, and FCI, a Crestwood-based consultancy, were two of several groups invited from across the country to participate in a symposium with magazine-publishing clients of Kable, a magazine and magazine-related fulfillment service based in Mount Morris, Ill. Nicholas Mondello, vice president of strategic development of Strategics, led the branding presentation. He was joined by Joseph Furgiuele, president of FCI. Their session provided an overview of branding, as well as a plan for magazine marketers to evaluate their magazine presence and develop brand-related business opportunities.The American Association of Advertising Agencies Foundation has granted 18 scholarships totaling $147,500. Sixteen were awarded to multicultural students studying the advertising creative arts, and the remaining two went to women pursuing master's degrees in media. For the third consecutive year, the foundation has distributed individual multicultural creative scholarships in amounts of $5,000 and $10,000 to students currently enrolled in two-year programs at the following schools: Virginia Commonwealth University's ADCenter; the Creative Circus and the Portfolio Center, both in Atlanta; Miami Ad School in Miami; and the University of Texas at Austin. Winners include the first recipients of the John Mack Carter Scholarship to Develop Women of Leadership in Media, awarded to female students in the media program at the VCU AdCenter. This year's scholarships also included four grants from the Bill Bernbach Minority Scholarship Fund.Eyeballnyc has completed two 60-second promos for NikeTown. One highlights a new Nike e-commerce Web site (www.niketown.com) that launched in October, while the other is for a Nike Web site devoted to information about Olympic athletes. The New York design company also worked on a campaign for the new Duracell M3 battery created by BBDO Worldwide in New York and a Domino's Pizza/Coca-Cola promotion from Deutsch in New York. NEW JERSEYLinda Rosanio, CEO of Cherry Hill-based agency The Star Group, was named Small Business Person of the Year by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. An annual award winner is selected from nominations drawn from throughout the region; the winner is chosen by a panel of business owners and advisers based on his or her demonstrated commitment to the business community. PENNSYLVANIATo introduce an established brand name to its selection of cabinetry, The Home Depot has entered into a licensing agreement with Thomasville Furniture Industries to create a new cabinetry collection sold exclusively at The Home Depot. DLD Advertising is introducing the cabinet line, called Thomasville Cabinetry, to consumers via a strategic campaign. The Horsham agency was responsible for the creative development and design of four consumer catalogs highlighting Thomasville Cabinetry's various lifestyle collections. DLD also assisted with creating in-store cabinet-sample galleries. The cabinetry-line campaign will debut in The Home Depot in early 2001.GMAC Commercial Mortgage has hired Diccicco Battista Communications to conduct a full-service communications program. The Horsham marketing-communications firm will provide services that include advertising by FlashPoint—DBC and media planning by IntelliMedia—DBC, both units of Diccicco Battista Communications. GMAC Commercial Mortgage is a financial-solutions provider that serves commer- cial real estate borrowers and investors seeking relationship-based advice and consultation.
