Adweek’s Maddy Awards

It’s spring! And that means the statuettes are primed and ready to fly. While Hollywood’s Academy grappled with cinematic history and agencies frantically collected materials for the deadlines they haven’t missed yet, Adweek decided to get in on the action. We pored over commercial after commercial to find the best-and, most enjoyably, the worst-of the past year (the ad year, we decreed, began after Super Bowl ’01 and ended after SB ’02). We laughed, we cried, we fished around for bribes. Then we put our nominees up for a Web vote and, finally, made our “Maddy” (“Madison” Avenue, get it?) selections.
