NEW YORK Advertising.com, which is being bought by America Online for $435 million cash, has hired Robert Formentin as vice president of advertiser services.

In the post, he will oversee the regional sales offices and sales support functions of the Baltimore-based company, which helps advertisers develop and execute marketing programs across Web properties.

Based in Advertising.com’s New York office, Formentin will report to senior vice president, general manager of advertiser services Jeremy Helfand. His experience includes CMP’s InteractiveWeek, Yahoo!’s InternetLife, InfoSeek, Phase2Media and 24/7 Real Media.
