Adding Up Adweek’s Classified Ads for Jobs takes

If you’re looking for a job in advertising, marketing or media, head for the booming Midwest. As you can see from the chart, help-wanted advertising linage was down just 69 percent in that region last month, versus at least 75 percent in the other five regions. Based on the volume of classifieds in Adweek, it’s clear the job market in these fields has gone stone cold. People who have jobs are in no hurry to leave them, and few companies are in the mood to expand. Between the general economic slowdown and the collapse (for now) of the dot-coms, there’s just not much impetus for hiring.
