The family of Don S. Maurer, the McKinney& Silver chief executive officer killed in a car accident Oct. 20, has established a college scholarshipin his name.

“Next to his children, Don loved advertising,” said Janet Northern, the Raleigh, N.C., shop’s director of communications. “His family has made the decision to empowera young person withthe dream of anadvertising career.”

The annual scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior selected from a national pool of applicants interested in pursuinga career in advertising.

The first recipient will be named next fall.

The award will be administered by Maurer’s daughters, Rachael and Sarah.
