Ad Club Names Kiely President

BOSTON The Ad Club said it has named 25-year communications veteran Kathy Kiely president.

She succeeds Lisa Unsworth, who has served as president of the organization for the past two years. Unsworth is returning to Havas’ Arnold in Boston as chief marketing officer [Adweek Online, Dec. 7]. Unsworth had previously been at Arnold in senior posts from 1998-2002.

Kiely for about two years served as vp of marketing at the Bertucci’s Brick Oven Pizzeria chain in Northborough, Mass. Prior to that, she had been general manager of the short-lived Boston office of Interpublic Group agency Deutsch from 2000-01. She also served as an executive creative director at Arnold, working on accounts such as The Hartford, McDonald’s and Talbots.

“With every change there is opportunity. We look at this as an opportunity to build off a strong foundation and create an even more relevant and dynamic organization,” said Barbara Reilly, the Ad Club’s board chairman, in a statement.

“I have been seated at both sides of the marketing table. As a client and an agency person, I believe I will bring a unique insight and perspective to the needs of all of our members,” Kiely said.

The club is more than 100 years old and sponsors numerous professional development programs, internships and diversity initiatives. It also produces the annual Francis W. Hatch Awards, a premier showcase for creative work from New England agencies and clients.
