Chas. F. Cates & Sons, Faison, N.C., named Fuller & Thiede Advertising, Milwaukee, as its new agency of record. Cates produces both branded and private label items for the grocery trade.
Olbrich Botanical Gardens selected Cunningham & Welch Design Group, Madison, to develop its 1993 Rhapsody in Bloom promotional campaign.
Better Crocker Enterprises awarded its Betty Crocker Catalog account to Ovation Marketing, La Crosse. The agency will create and assist in direct mail and name acquisitions campaigns for the Betty Crocker Catalog program.
Waldbillig & Besteman, Madison, was selected as the new ad agency of record by Subway Stores-Green Bay, representing 36 restaurants in the Fox River Valley and Green Bay areas.
OHIO
Cleveland-based Dix & Eaton will handle corporate and financial communications services, pr, media relations and employee communications for LTV Corp.
The Glimcher Co. hired Fekete & Co., Columbus, to handle the October opening for the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Dayton. Fekete beat out three other contenders for the business.
Media That Works, Cincinnati, was named media management agency for Barton Beers’ St. Pauli Girl brand.
Cincinnati-based Power & Associates was named agency for Course Services Inc. The agency will be responsible for the introduction and promotion of Course Services’ sonic metal golf club cleaner.
Media Force, Cincinnati, was named ad agency of record for Cincinnati-based Reliance Medical Products. Reliance manufactures medical examination and treatment chairs, hydraulic and pneumatic stools, treatment cabinets, delivery systems and surgical stretchers. Media Force will handle all creative work, media buying and placement, market research and pr for the account.
MINNESOTA
Colle & McVoy, Minneapolis, was selected by Lawson Software to provide public relations services. Lawson Software specializes in full-featured accounting, human resources, retail, distribution and materials management software applications for businesses.
Schmitt & Sloan Advertising, Minneapolis, added Gelco Paynetwork and Medical Documenting Systems to its roster.
KANSAS
St. Francis Regional Medical Center named Associated Advertising Agency, Wichita, as the medical center’s new ad agency of record. Associated replaces Lida Advertising Co.
Midas Muffler Shops in Sedgwick and Reno counties in Kansas hired Menefee & Partners to serve as pr agency for a safety program titled, Project Safe Baby, for the company.
INDIANA
Burger King selected Montgomery, Zukerman, Davis/Indianapolis as agency of record for its company stores in central Indiana.
Burkhart Sign Division, South Bend, was named to produce new signage for 75 of Northwest Corp.’s newly acquired offices in Northeastern Indiana. Burkhart will manufacture and install new interior and exterior signage to the former Lincoln Financial Corp. banking locations.
ILLINOIS
Garfield-Lynn & Co., Chicago, was named creative agency for Barton Beers’ St. Pauli Girl beer.
Arian, Lowe, Travis & Gusick, Chicago, was named to create the national consumer magazine campaign for Power-Modeler, a line of multimedia CD-ROM software developed by Revell-Monogram. The shop beat out Chicago agencies Bozell, Hal Riney & Partners, Bayer Bess Vanderwarker, Fairman Schmidt & Capelli and incumbent agency Chase Ehrenberg & Rosene.
North Pier Chicago named Killian & Co. Advertising, Chicago, as its agency of record.
Globe Media, a Los Angeles-based company with offices in Chicago and other cities, was selected by Sports Marketing Group, publisher of the official Gameday Program and official Commemorative Program for World Cup ’94, as the advertising representative for these publications.
Ace Hardware Corp. hired Marketing Support, Chicago, as its packaging and merchandising design agency. The assignment includes the development of a new packaging design format that will encompass all products sold under the Ace brand name.
Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers-Chicago is launching a three-month promotion with a baseball theme that ties in with the Chicago Cubs and features former Cub third baseman Ron Santo. Lee Hill Inc. handles.
Marin/Lovell, Chicago, was retained by the village of South Holland, Ill., to create advertising and public relations programs to attract new residents and businesses to the community. The agency was also named to provide marketing, creative and media services for C.W. Electronics Enterprises.
Loran Nordgren & Co., Frankfort, developed a safety awareness campaign for the water heater division of the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association. The purpose of the campaign is to prevent fires and burn injuries caused by gasoline and other flammable liquids.
