Hinton and Steel was appointed to handle advertising for Freeman Welwood, a discount stockbroker with offices in Seattle, Tacoma and Spokane, Wash.; Portland, Ore.; and Honolulu.
Stewart Title Co. of Washington Inc. hired Ballard Bratsberg to handle marketing communications. In addition to newspaper and radio advertising, the shop will handle marketing strategy and develop sales support materials.
NEVADA
DataDesigns/Las Vegas was selected by Summerfield Suites Hotels to develop a database marketing system for the company’s 16 properties throughout the U.S.
Mac’s Casino and Nevada Crossing Hotel, Wendover, Nev., retained Harris & Love/Salt Lake City to provide advertising, promotion and strategic planning services.
SAN DIEGO
Triad Marketing was retained by Whittier Area Federal Credit Union to market customer information file services.
Roni Hicks & Associates was signed to handle advertising for the 1994 Thomas Guide for San Diego County.
InVzn Development Corp. retained MacCracken & Co. to handle marketing communications. InVzn, which provides litigation support systems, specializes in CD-ROM technology for pre-trial document management. MacCracken will handle strategy; general, trade and media relations; and organizational and community involvements. The shop will assist with direct mail, advertising and collateral production as well.
Stock/Alper & Associates was selected to develop a full-service marketing plan for physician recruitment for Nova Healthcare Medical Group.
LOS ANGELES
Cox, Castle & Nicholson, a real estate law firm, awarded its public relations account to DB&R/Westlake Village.
Burson-Marsteller West signed four clients: EcoTraveler, a Portland, Ore. -based consumer travel magazine; Rent Line, a telephone listing service for Southern California rental properties; World View International, a travel agency based in La Jolla, Calif.; and Freeman Cosmetic Corp., a Beverly Hills, Calif., marketer of hair, skin and bath products. Burston-Marsteller will handle public relations assignments for the companies.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA
Louisa Sugar Design was named to provide graphics, packaging and marketing materials for Venture Enhancement Resource Associates, a San Francisco company that handles emerging businesses preparing to go public.
Gauger & Silva Associates was selected to handle Shea Homes of Northern California, a $2-million account, according to the agency. G&S won the account after creating ads for the developer’s largest project, Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose.
COLORADO
High Plains Corp. retained Carl Thompson Associates/Boulder to implement a national investor and media relations program. Wichita, Kan.-based High Plains is an ethanol producer. The agency was also awarded the account for Lawrence, Mass.-based BKC Semiconductors and The Maxim Group, a retail floor coverings franchisor based in Marietta, Ga. Thompson will develop national investor relations and media relations programs for both BKC and Maxim.
Transportation Media/Chicago was recommended to handle the advertising account for Denver International Airport. The recommendation, by Denver’s manager of public works, is subject to the approval of Denver’s mayor and city council. Denver International Airport, scheduled to open March 9, will replace Stapleton Airport.
