BOC Advertising/Portland was named agency of record for the World Forestry Center. The ad agency’s first project will be a newspaper campaign to promote the return of the center’s exhibit: ‘Old Growth Forests: Treasure in Transition,’ which was first introduced to the Portland area in 1990 and has since been on a national tour.
Kimwood Corp., manufacturers of planers and sanders in Cottage Grove, Ore., appointed Chan Clarkson & Associates/Portland to handle advertising and pr. Clarkson also picked up the ad and pr account for Glamour Shots stores, which has outlets in Clackamas Town Center, Washington Square and Lloyd Center.
Hanna Andersson Corp., direct mail marketers of children’s clothing, selected KVO Advertising & Public Relations for a pr effort to help support the company’s buy-back program. ‘Hannadowns,’ as the program is called, allows customers to pass down outgrown garments to needy children and their families and receive credit toward future purchases.
American Show Management retained Pro-Media/Portland as agency of record for the Computer & Office System Shows. ProMedia will handle advertising and pr in Portland and Pittsburgh.
ORANGE COUNTY
Newport Beach-based Intercommunications was chosen by Westinghouse Desert Communities to provide advertising, marketing and pr for Bighorn, a master-planned community in South Palm Desert. The assignment includes strategic positioning, advertising and pr support.
Ruffolo Communications/Laguna Niguel was selected by the Western Athletic Conference to develop sponsorships and promotional events for WAC’s 1994 women’s volleyball season.
SAN DIEGO
Tandem Design completed design projects for two clients. For Hell’s Kitchen, a Pacific Beach restaurant serving spicy fast food, Tandem create a logo. The agency also completed a corporate identity package for The Presidio Group, a real estate capital venture group.
The Arco Olympic Training Center, the nation’s first year-round Olympic development complex, selected Phillips-Ramsey for marketing and pr support services. The site will be located at Chula Vista, Calif., and will include training venues for 10 different Olympic events.
Capener, Matthews & Walcher was hired by HealthFirst Network to develop an ad and marketing communications campaign targeted to consumers, healthplans and brokers, employers and physicians.
The California Fluid Milk Processor Advisory Board retained Nuffer, Smith, Tucker to handle the $1-million public relations component of its advertising and marketing campaign.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA
Brayer Lighting, S.F.-based manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting, selected Addison Olian/Redwood City as its full-service agency following a review of five undisclosed shops. AO will handle market research, sales promotion, advertising, trade show support and pr for the client. The agency also picked up Stone Crest Financial, a Cupertino-based mortgage banking company; 1-800-Acquisition Corp., a direct response marketing services firm based in Houston; and DC Systems, a software systems developer in Pleasanton.
One Horse Rhino reined in the Women’s Mountain Bike and Tea Society, WOMBATS, for international marketing and sponsorship duties.
Battenberg, Fillhardt & Wright/San Jose was named to handle advertising for DIALOG Information Services, an on-line database service firm of Knight Ridder. BFW’s initial effort will be a campaign to introduce the company’s Macintosh and Windows version of Dialog Link software.
ADz Visual Imaging won an assignment to design a corporate identity for Omnilogic International, based in Paris, France.
LOS ANGELES
The Pollack PR Marketing Group/Century City was selected by the Australian American Chamber of Commerce for media relations, strategic planning and special events; and Wainwright Industries, St. Peters, Mo., to introduce a new product, Protector Pager, a condom case that looks like an electronic beeper.
Older & Wiser, an agency formed in May to specialize in communicating to people over 50, picked up three accounts: Schumacher Publishing, a Century City-based company that specializes in living trusts; The Rich Collection, a marketer of exclusive collections of watches; and the University of California Los Angeles Center on Aging, a pro bono account which will provide the agency with consultation and informational resources on the 50-plus market.
Moiselle Advertising and Marketing/Century City picked up the $1.2-million ad account for SuitMasters, a men’s clothing chain which opened in Glendale last week.
Jim Garber & Associates/Pasadena was awarded a three-year contract to provide marketing assistance to the California Division of Tourism. The assignment, which Garber valued at $1.5 million a year, will focus on ways to increase domestic and international visitors to the state.
DB&R, a Westlake Village marketing and pr firm, added commercial developer The Koll Co.; WET Design, Universal City, which designs and engineers water features; and Prudential Realty. DB&R will provide pr counsel and services for Prudential’s Hacienda Business Park in Pleasanton, Calif.
