$80 Mil. Scotts Co. Account Follows Rogers

NEW YORK The Scotts Co. has followed former Wolf Group executive creative director Mike Rogers to his new venture, giving the two-day-old shop an account estimated to be worth nearly $80 million. It was the now-defunct New York agency’s largest client.

The Wolf Group in New York, which was shuttered Friday, handled creative duties on Scotts’ Miracle-Gro, Ortho, Lawn Service and Osmocote brands. Creative department employees out on shoots for the Marysville, Ohio-based client were directed to return home immediately.

Client senior vice president of North American marketing Gordon Hecker said Scotts would park those brands with Rogers “for the immediate future.”

“The way I see it, it’s the same people doing the same work,” said Hecker.

Rogers said nearly 25 former Wolf employees have joined his new shop, currently called ML Rogers, including creative director David Bernstein. Bernstein joined the Wolf Group in November from BBDO.

“I think it’s a testament and a tribute to the great work the team did on the Scotts business, and the excellence across the board on that account,” Rogers said.

Toronto-based Wolf Group Integrated Communications closed Flavour Advertising in Toronto yesterday and will sell its Rochester, N.Y., and Atlanta operations. The Cleveland office will continue to operate, a company representative said.
