$60 Mil. Boeing Acct. In Review

LOS ANGELES — Boeing, seeking a global agency with a full-service office in Chicago, has put its global ad account into review. The account is estimated at more than $60 million.

The move comes as the aerospace company prepares to move its corporate headquarters from Seattle to Chicago in September.

FCB Seattle has been handling Boeing’s corporate account since January 2000. It picked up the client’s space and communication business in September 2000 and added the remainder of the account in April. FCB’s Chicago office will defend the account, with FCB’s Seattle office lending support, FCB Seattle president Ian Beavis said.

Approximately ten or eleven agencies will be invited to participate in the review, said search consultant Bob Wolf of Bob Wolf Partners in Los Angeles, which is leading the review. Notices are expected to go out next week.

Work will include corporate advertising campaigns for Boeing at a corporate level, as well as for several of its business units.

“Most people saw the company as an aircraft manufacturer through the years, but they’re evolving much more into aerospace than commercial airplanes,” Wolf said.

Following a review of agency credentials, Boeing is expected to make site visits to five or six semifinalists in August. A decision is expected in October.
