NEW YORK Starwood Hotels and Resorts confirmed it has put its media buying account into review.

The company spent nearly $50 million in measured media in 2004 and close to $25 million through September 2005, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

The media-buying incumbent is Interpublic Group’s Deutsch in New York, which also handles creative for the Sheraton and Westin brands. (Creative is not a part of the review, a client representative said.)

Sources said Deutsch would not defend; an agency rep declined comment.
