4A's Names O'Brien Chief Lobbyist In Nation's Capital

Veteran ad man Richard O’Brien has been appointed director of government relations for the American Association of Advertising Agencies.

In Washington, D.C., O’Brien, who also carries the title of executive vice president, will be the 4A’s lead man in lobbying Congress and federal agencies on all issues pertaining to advertising. His particular focus will be taxation and legislation.

O’Brien spent 16 years as an account manager at Grey Advertising. During a 14-year tenure at Saatchi & Saatchi, he was named vice chairman, director of worldwide client services.

O’Brien replaces Hal Shoup, who retires this spring.
