4 Shops Earn Emmy Nominations

NEW YORK BBDO scored two out of five nominations for Outstanding Commercial Emmy, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said today.

The Omnicom shop was nominated for its “Osbournes” spot for Pepsi, featuring the Osbourne siblings morphing into Donnie and Marie Osmond, and “Sheens,” a Visa commercial showing Charlie Sheen and his father, Martin Sheen, renting videos.

Publicis’ Fallon in Minneapolis was recognized for “Fish” on behalf of PBS, in which a fishbowl denizen leaps to freedom. Portland, Ore.-based independent Wieden + Kennedy was nominated for Nike’s “Angry Chicken,” showing a man being chased through a neighborhood by a chicken. Havas’ Arnold in Boston garnered the fifth nomination for “Squares,” its ode to the round shape of the Volkswagen Beetle.

The 55th annual prime-time Emmys will be presented on Sept. 21 in Los Angeles.

Wieden won the award last year, for Nike’s “Move,” which showed a variety of athletes playing their game.
