$150 Mil.+ Progressive Eyes 6

NEW YORK Six shops have advanced to the visitation stage of the review for creative duties on Progressive Direct’s $150-200 million ad account, sources said.

Sources identified the agencies as Omnicom Group’s GSD&M in Austin, Texas, and TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York; Havas’ Euro RSCG in New York, McKinney in Durham, N.C., and Arnold in Boston; and independent The Richards Group in Dallas.

The semifinalists emerged from a longer list of shops that responded to Progressive’s proposal request. Other respondents included Interpublic Group’s Deutsch and McCann Erickson, both in New York, and Mullen in Wenham, Mass., as well as Publicis Groupe-backed Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York, said sources.

Client executives will visit the shops in two weeks and based on those meetings, they will select three finalists, according to sources. The Mayfield Village, Ohio, client is expected to hire an agency by September.

The incumbent, independent Doner in Southfield, Mich., is not defending. New York consultancy Roth Associates is managing the process. Roth did not return calls, and the agencies either declined comment or could not be reached.
