ABC News has finally found its new executive in charge of Good Morning America, and it’s a figure who knows the broadcast as well as anyone. (TVNewser)

Simone Swink, a longtime senior staffer at the show, has been named GMA’s executive producer, according to a memo sent to employees Sunday by Kim Godwin, president of ABC News. (Variety)

Swink has served as senior producer for the show’s coverage of multiple elections and the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. In the past year, as head producer of the second hour of GMA, Swink has led development on recurring segments covering small businesses as they grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic. (TheWrap)

“Simone is a dynamic, thoughtful and creative leader, experienced in collaborating across platforms,” Godwin wrote in the note to staff. “I’m confident that she and the GMA team will continue to lead the show in new and innovative directions.” (Deadline)

Swink takes a role that has been left vacant for months since the departure of ABC News veteran Michael Corn in April. Corn, who is now president of Nexstar’s NewsNation, was accused of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed last week. He has denied the allegations. (THR)
