Roger Stone Gets Caught in Facebook’s Coordinated Inauthentic Activity Net

Facebook removed four separate networks for violating its policies against foreign interference and coordinated inauthentic behavior, including one that originated in the U.S. and was tied to conservative political consultant Roger Stone, who worked on the 2016 campaign for President Trump in its early stages. Stone’s own Instagram account was shut down as part of the takedown. The network of more than 100 Facebook pages, accounts and Instagram accounts spent more than $300,000 on Facebook and Instagram ads to promote their posts. (CNN)

Facebook also took down a domestic influence operation connected to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. It was aligned with Bolsonaro’s Social Liberal Party and created “fictitious personas posing as reporters,” posting content from fictional news outlets. (NBC News)
