The 2020 White House Correspondents’ Dinner will feature Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson as host and Hasan Minhaj, the host of Netflix’s Patriot Act, as the featured entertainer. (TVNewser)

The pairing marks a U-turn for the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA), which attempted to strike a more serious tone last year by inviting historian Ron Chernow to deliver the keynote address. (WaPo)

Chernow was invited after sharp criticism of the 2018 performance of comedian Michelle Wolf, whose jokes at the expense of then-White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders were derided as sexist by President Trump and his allies. (Politico)

There was no immediate word on whether Trump, who has broken a tradition of the President of the United States attending the event, would participate this year. (Variety)

The WHCA will be presenting two new awards at the 2020 dinner: The Katharine Graham Award for Courage and Accountability and the Award for Excellence in Presidential News Coverage by Visual Journalists. The event will be held on April 25. (THR)
