Facebook Continued Its Efforts to Help People Understand Why Specific Ads Are Served to Them

Facebook has added more information when users ask, “Why am I seeing this ad?” (Adweek)

In a blog post Thursday, product manager Sreethu Thulasi wrote, “In the past, ‘Why am I seeing this ad?’ highlighted one or two of the most relevant reasons, such as demographic information or that you may have visited a website. Now, you’ll see more detailed targeting, including the interests or categories that matched you with a specific ad.” (TechCrunch)

Users will now also be able to see more information about the businesses uploading lists of their information, and the advertisers using those lists to target ads. (CNBC)

Perhaps most importantly, Facebook will let users adjust which ads they see in the future. (Engadget)
