ESPN Fires Executive VP Rob King After Alleged Harassment

ESPN has fired executive vice president Rob King after he was accused of harassment. The harassment allegations were due to social media posts, which were brought to the attention of ESPN’s Human Resources, according to sources. (NY Post)

King, ESPN’s executive editor at large, special projects, confirmed his departure on Twitter. But he made it sound like his decision. “After nearly 20 years with ESPN, I have decided the time is right for me to leave the company,” wrote King. (FOS)

Before that position, King had held many top jobs at ESPN, including senior vice president of original content, senior vice president of SportsCenter and news, and vice president and editor in chief of ESPN.com. (Poynter)

King was a former deputy managing editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer who joined ESPN in 2004. He reported directly to Jimmy Pitaro, ESPN’s chairman. even after a recent reshuffle of the organization in the wake of the return of Bob Iger to Disney’s CEO role. (Variety)
