CNN has decided not to accept an ad for President Trump’s re-election campaign. The 30-second spot, entitled Biden Corruption, attacks the network’s talent, including Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon and Jim Acosta. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is also disparaged in the ad. (TVNewser)

The advertisement, which was tweeted by the president last week, relates to Joe Biden’s conduct toward Ukraine while he served as vice president. In the ad, a narrator derisively refers to Lemon, Cuomo and Acosta as “media lapdogs.” (THR)

CNN said in a statement on Thursday that the commercial failed to meet its advertising standards. “In addition to disparaging CNN and its journalists, the ad makes assertions that have been proven demonstrably false by various news outlets, including CNN,” a network spokesman said. (NYT)

President Trump on Thursday proposed starting a news network to counter CNN. “CNN is a voice that really seems to be the voice out there and it’s a terrible thing for our country,” Trump said, diverging from his speech on protecting Medicare for seniors at an event in The Villages, Fla. (Politico)
