Nomadland was named best picture at Sunday night’s sleepy and surreal 93rd Academy Awards, a stage show broadcast on television about films mostly distributed on the internet. (NYT)

Nomadland beat out the likes of Aaron Sorkin’s historical drama The Trial Of The Chicago Seven, and David Fincher’s story of old Hollywood, Mank, about the creation of Citizen Kane. (NPR)

China-born Zhao also became just the second woman to win best director, and the first woman of color. (AP)
