CBS News Chief Susan Zirinsky Nears Deal to Return to Production Roots

CBS News president Susan Zirinsky is nearing a deal to step down after just two years in the role and sign a wide-ranging production partnership with parent company ViacomCBS Inc., according to people familiar with the matter. (WSJ)

The new production deal would enable Zirinsky to create content for not only CBS News but ViacomCBS’ new streaming service, Paramount+. (TVNewser)

Zirinsky has long been known for her love of overseeing news production, and retained a title as a senior executive producer when she took on the role of president. (Variety)

The hunt for her replacement has been underway for a while, the Journal reported, but nobody has been identified as a potential candidate. Zirinsky began her CBS career 40 years ago as a journalist. (The Hill)
