By Brad Pareso

Long-term AMC Networks chief operating officer Ed Carroll is leaving the company at the end of the year after a 34-year tenure. Named COO in 2009, he was instrumental to the success of some of AMC Networks’ most brand-defining series, including Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead and Killing Eve. Carroll oversaw all business operations for the company and in recent years focused on building out its portfolio of niche streaming services and the AMC+ service. (Variety)

His departure at the end of his current employment contract term follows the August news that his long-time boss Josh Sapan was exiting as president and CEO after 26 years to become executive vice chairman. Former Showtime Networks CEO Matthew Blank took over as interim CEO while the company searches for a full-time successor. (THR)
