By Erik Oster

Yes and Company, the specialist network formed by MDC Partners agencies Bruce Mau Design, Hello Design, Northstar and Varick back in May, has made its first executive hire.

Scott Stedman joins Yes and Company as its first chief strategy officer, responsible for leading corporate strategy and business development for Yes and Company and its individual partner agencies. He will split his time between New York and Boston, reporting directly to Yes and Company CEO Michael Bassik. According to a press release, Yes and Company created the role in response to client demand for an integrated model bringing together creative strategy, data and technology.

“We believe Integrated specialization is the future, and Yes and Company is proving it’s possible,” Bassik said in a statement. “Scott thinks like a disruptor and an entrepreneur, which is why he immediately grasped the potential of our unique specialist-driven model. There is no one who can better dissect a client’s business challenge and form an agile, skilled and collaborative team to unlock it.”

“The way agencies and brands work together is rapidly changing, and Yes and Company is uniquely positioned to be a central part of that new marketing ecosystem,” Stedman added. “I’m blown away by our depth of talent and thrilled to be working with a community of specialists that can collaborate while being exceptional at what they do best.”

Stedman arrives at Yes and Company with an extensive entrepreneurial background. Most recently, he opened Tourists, a luxury hotel resort in the Berkshires. He also founded The L Magazine and Northside Media Group, which grew to include Brooklyn Magazine, the Northside Festival, Taste Talks, Summer Screen and Northside Creative Group and was acquired by Zealot Networks in 2015.
